Since 1998 the Union Mountainbike Club Koppl welcomes his riders, visitors and sponsors to mountainbike races. In 2020, we again would like to provide an unforgettable event. During the past month we renewed and extended our bikepark, which we established 2017 for the Austrian Championships. Additionally, we designed a new cross country style race track during the COVID-19 lockdown. This track is now reduced about one kilometre, but now better matches the XCO race profile.
What will we be able to realise under the influences of COVID-19 rules? Together with the Austrian Cycling Federation (ÖRV) we plan race in the national race series of Austria Youngsters Cup and the Mountainbike Liga Austria. The event will be a competition on two days, lasting from 19th to 20th of September 2020. The Nockstein Trophy 2020 will start with an XCO for the age classes U7 and U9 on Saturday. Afterwards, the age classes from U11 upwards will compete in a technical sprint. On an approximate 2 km long race track we will integrated eight technical zones. Within these zones, ground contact of riders is forbidden. If a rider touches the ground within a zone, age class dependent time penalties apply. These time penalties will we added to the total time of the rider. On Sunday, 20th of September we will provide a Cross Country race with mass start.
Our closest friends from the Bavarian Cycling Federation (BRV) with its race series Pölzcup are also invited. The track difficulties regarding strength, fitness and technicalities will be manageable for riders from U7 to U11. From age class U13 until U17 we will apply the rules of the Austria Youngsters Cup. Thus, in the latter age classes, an UCI license, a BikeCard or day pass license is required.
This website should assist you in all administrative preparation before the race. We provide hints on the race location (venue), recommendation on accommodation (PDF) and travel (PDF). For those who intend to stay longer in Koppl, we also provide further information like shopping opportunities (PDF). Information on the race programme are issued in this PDF (still to be updated). Finally, we would like to inform you about the terms of participation to be accepted during the registration process (PDF). Under all circumstances the disclaimer of liability (PDF) applies.
Looking at our environmental resources, we would like to perform the event under the auspices of a "green event". In a modern understanding, sustainability encompasses the integration of humans, environment and economy. To avoid masses of rubbish and long car queues, we would like to acknowledge travel opportunities using the Austrian Railway and/or the public bus system. Of course, this should go in line with the actual applying COVID-19 rules. Thus, especially this year it will be important that you observe any changes related to our race programme designed. Once changes apply, we will announce them on our website and of course acknowledge the changes on our black board. Race consultants will announce changes latest also prior to the race start.
The Union Mountainbike Club Koppl wishes all riders a successful preparation time, a lot of health and a pleasing travel and most importantly an injury free race!
